Give for a Greater Cause
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven spikes, in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing”
(Al-Baqarah 2:261)

ways to give
Fulfill Your Obligation of Charity
Giving is more than just an act of kindness; it is a way to bring hope, uplift communities, and create lasting change. In Islam, charity is a fundamental pillar that purifies wealth and spreads compassion. Whether through Zakat, Sadaqah, Fitrana, or Fidya, every contribution serves as a source of relief for those in need.

Purification of Wealth
Zakat is an obligatory charity that purifies wealth and ensures economic justice. It is a fundamental pillar of Islam, requiring every eligible Muslim to give 2.5% of their savings annually to those in need.
- Obligatory on Eligible Muslims – Required for those who meet the nisab (minimum wealth threshold).
- Purifies Wealth & Soul – Helps remove greed and reminds us of our duty to the less fortunate.
- Supports Vulnerable Communities – Given to the poor, needy, orphans, and those in debt.
- Mentioned in the Quran – “And establish prayer and give Zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves—you will find it with Allah.” (Quran 2:110)
Voluntary Charity
Sadaqah is an act of kindness and voluntary charity that anyone can give at any time. It can be in the form of money, food, time, or even a simple smile.
- Not Limited to Wealth – Includes acts of kindness, food, and even good words.
- Brings Countless Rewards – Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.” (Tirmidhi)
- Can Be Given Anytime – No minimum amount or time restriction; given based on goodwill.
- Benefits Both the Giver & Receiver – Helps the needy while also bringing peace and blessings to the donor.
Charity Before Eid-ul-Fitr
Fitrana (Zakat al-Fitr) is a small, obligatory charity given before Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure that the less fortunate can celebrate the holiday with dignity.
- Obligatory for All Muslims – Required for every Muslim who can afford it.
- Paid Before Eid Prayer – Must be given before the Eid prayer so the needy can benefit in time.
- Equivalent to Staple Food Cost – Usually the cost of dates, wheat, barley, or rice.
- Purifies the Fast – Acts as a purification for any shortcomings during Ramadan.
Compensation for Missed Fasts
Fidya is a payment made by those who cannot fast due to illness, old age, or other valid reasons. It covers the cost of feeding a poor person for each missed fast. If one is permanently unable to fast, Fidya serves as compensation, ensuring the needy are supported.
- For Those Unable to Fast – Applies to those who are permanently unable to observe fasting.
- Feeds the Needy – The amount given should be enough to provide one meal for a person per missed fast.
- Encouraged for Those with Chronic Conditions – A way to contribute even when physically unable to fast.
- Commanded in the Quran – “And as for those who can fast with difficulty, they have to feed a poor person (as Fidya).” (Quran 2:184)
